Dented Wallets and Square Wheels: The 10 Worst Cars of 2010

In the age of high gas prices, hybrids and everyone supposedly going green like the government would make you think, the 2010 class of cars, SUV's and trucks took another hit this year with depreciation and upkeep costs. Just about all the top companies took a good hit in both categories of big and roomy and the supposedly fuel-efficient compact variety which is not as a big hit to people as many would tell you. Here's a listing of the worst performers of 2010 and vehicles you should avoid. These are not in any specific order. (contributed by Design 911)

Cadillac Escalade - Type: Luxury SUV

It's hard to say really what tipped the "experts" off on this vehicle. It did rank poorly amongst safety and value but the one statistic that really stuck out was this vehicle got top honours for the most stolen vehicle out of everything that's out there. "Pimp My Ride" apparently does not apply here.

Chevrolet Aveo - Type: Compact

The Chevrolet Aveo5 1LT overall value is at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to even more expensive models such as the Volkswagen Golf and Honda Civic. Consumer Reports concludes that "the ride is jittery and noise is constant." . What would you expect from driving something as small as a golf cart?

Chevrolet Colorado - Type: Pickup Truck

This vehicle has been rated poorly in just about in every aspect so I'm not going to waste my time telling you about it because what does matter is the fact that GM is soon doing away with this model as well as the Canyon. So, of course the best medicine would be to stay away from these models.

Dodge Nitro - Type: SUV

The SLT model is just another version of the Jeep Liberty but with lower marks. Consumers complained
how noisy this SUV is and how it lacks agility. There tended to be some sort of body lean which added difficulty for people steering. This would be the equivalent of pushing a baby stroller in gravel.

Ford F-250 - Type: Truck

The 2010 Ford F-250 Lariat was ranked the worst on gas mileage getting on average just 10 mpg. This was a diesel engine model as well. Hate to see how an unleaded version would do. At this bad a rate of miles per gallon, one would think you'd have to get a bank loan just to get back and forth to work every three months.

Jeep Wrangler - Type: SUV

The Unlimited Sahara was the main gripe but Jeep Wrangler overall has plummeted 23% in sales since the beginning of the year. Apparently it does well off-road but fell short when driven on-road. Handling is a challenge with vague steering and low cornering limits. It's reliability was another negative for consumers.

Chrysler Sebring - Type: Midsize

Car experts ridicule this unpopular gem for its cheap interior and poor performance. It is considered the worst midsize car for the money due to the high ownership costs. Its rate of depreciation is almost faster than watching paint dry.

Mercury Mountaineer - Type: SUV

Top honours for worst midsize SUV for the money, the Mountaineer (and its twin, Ford Explorer, which ranked right behind it) is truck-based. So therefore it makes it use more fuel than the competition and not something suited for city and suburban driving. If you live in this type area, the handling may cause a vein to pop out of your forehead as well.See another worst car 2010 here.

2011 Chevrolet Corvette Z06-RF

2011 Chevy Corvette Z06-RF has been realized by Vortech and includes a centrifugal supercharger, an air aluminium intercooler, a bypass valve, alluminium installation supports, a high capacity gasoline pump and increased injectors. However there are several differences between the two cars: the engine’s capacity, the exhaust system and the final performances.



In fact the ZR1 has been developed on the base of the LS9 6.2 litre engine, but the 7.0 litre LS7 that equips the Corvette Z06 permitted Romeo Ferraris to take advantage of the higher cubic capacity. First of all the higher reliability and, thanks to a high performance exhaust system realized by the Factory and a careful optimization of the electronics, to obtain more horse power at lower number of rpm (677 bhp at 6000 rpm vs 646 bhp at 6500 rpm of the ZR1) with more disposable torque all speed long: up to 823 Nm at 4950 rpm (The ZR1 reaches the maximum peak of 819 Nm at 3900 rpm).

¡Camioneta Chevy Express Tuning '99!

Hola Tuners! Viendo los muy buenos comentarios que tenemos cada vez que compartimos camionetas tuning con ustedes, les presentamos una nueva preparación. Se trata de una Chevrolet Express del año 1999, cuyo dueño ha trabajo con mucho esfuerzo y ha logrado una maravilla de troca!

Como vemos en la foto principal nuestro amigo Troy Carbo es un amante de la suspensión al raz del suelo, los vidrios tonalizados oscuros y unas buenas llantas cromadas pero eso no es todo! Veamos que hay dentro de esta Chevy Express tuning...

Quince (15) pasajeros son los que puede transportar esta van de lujo. Un interior tuning reconstruido a preferencia de este tuner que quiso dar a sus pasajeros un buen sonido con parlantes 6 x 9, parlantes 6 pulgadas y una pantalla integrada de video.

Veintidos (22) pulgadas es la medida de llantas elegida y colocada en esta fantástica Chevy Express. Troy también decidió que seria una buena idea cromarlas y asi fue... A la perfección queda el brillo que resalta de estas llantas tuning.

Cuatro (4) subwoofers marca Diamond de 12 pulgadas son los encargados de hacer sonar los graves de esta Troca Tuning y no olvidemos de destacar el trabajo que lleva la adaptación con fibra de vidrio en la estructura donde se fijan, lo cuál se moldea a gusto de cada uno.

En cuanto a equipo central de Audio Pioneer es la marca elegida y se conecta directamente con 2 amplificadores Autotek que potencian con 1500 watts los distintos altavoces que fuimos nombrando.

Interesante trabajo el de Troy sobre esta Chata Tuning. Un tuning a gran escala, si no lo creen vean el tamaño de esta preparación. Monstruosa!

Chevy Camaro LS9 Tuning: ¡Edición Limitada!

Hola Tuners! Hoy les presentamos una nueva Edición limitada de este excelente modelo de Chevrolet. Se trata de un Chevy Camaro SS LS9 Tuning, preparado por el taller Hennessey Performance.

Les cuento un poco de que estamos hablando. Este tuning no es sólo de exterior. Si levantamos el capot para ver que hay debajo, nos encontramos con un motor V8 de General Motors que desarrolla nada más ni menos que 705 caballos de fuerza. Ahora bien también prestemos atención a esas llantas de lujo que acompañan unos neumáticos michelin PS2 excelentes. Y no nos olvidemos de nombrar el detalle de los frenos, los cuáles corresponden a la serie de frenos de discos similares a los del Chevy Corvette ZR1. Magníficos.

Pero no terminamos aún! El exterior tiene un trabajo de extrema calidad que merece ser reconocido. Es por eso que aqui lo vemos desde otro ángulo. Se ha reformado el Kit de carroceria en función de mejorar aereodinámica a altas velocidades. Se ha aplicado fibra de carbono en varias secciones del auto aprovechando las características que este material posee.

Finalmente luego de colocar algunas tomas de aire, la gente de Hennessey Performance decidió que esta bestia de Camaro debia ser pintado de color gris y plotearse con lineas azules, lo cuál vemos reflejado en esa franja que sale del capot y va hacia atrás.

El resultado: Un 10! Muy buena preparación.

¡Chevy S10 Tuning del 98!

Hola Tuners! Hoy con ustedes traemos una nueva Camioneta Tuning. Algo distinto a lo antes visto! Se trata de una Chevy S10 tuneada. Monstruosa pick up con un diseño bastante llamativo.

Este tuner de Estados Unidos, más precisamente de Virginia del Oeste adquirió esta chata en el 2001 cuando era un simple conductor. Poco a poco fue gustandole la idea de personalizar y enchular su máquina y aqui están sus resultados.

Como todo Tuner, Nathan comenzó por bajar la suspensión de esta Chevrolet S10 y para que esto sea completo eligió unas buenas llantas de 18 pulgadas. Si les gusta ese modelo les cuento que son unas "Boyd Coddington Smoothy II" adaptadas con unos neumáticos Nankang.

Una mecánica que da gusto... Cada cosa en su lugar y pintada a medida. Asi es como nos encontramos con un excelente filtro de aire, mangueras de colores y un motor Chevy bien potente.

De esto hablabamos. Una suspensión bien baja y con llantas tuning de primera calidad. ¿Qué les parecen estas 18 pulgadas? Espectaculares.

Chevy!!! Que frente!!! Una parrilla excelente, con parachoques reformados y el logo de Chevrolet que reluce en el centro. Para los fanáticos de Chivo un orgullo total....

Interior de otro planeta! También nos sorprende esta Chevy S10 con su interior. La mayoria de la superficie está recubierta por un color violeta. Tanto los tapicados como la alfombra y otros detalles.

Si observan bien esta camioneta posee una pedalera increible, cromada al extremo. Además incorporaron un volante Tuning de forma innovadora y un equipo de audio Panasonic con tweeters y medios infinity.

Igualmente el dato más curioso de este tuner es que esta camioneta tuvo que ser pintada 3 veces para que se mantenga ese exterior tan llamativo. Asi es... parece que gracias a ciertos accidentes hubo que retocarla un par de veces.
